SLUM 2 SCHOOL GLOBAL CAMPAIGN FOR EDUCATION

Slum2School Africa is proud to announce her 1st Global Campaign for Education which is scheduled to hold on Saturday October 10, and Sunday October 11, 2015.

As part of their ongoing fundraising campaign to enroll 1000 children into schools within slums in Lagos, IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camps in Abuja and eventually across northern Nigeria, they are organizing a global campaign for education with over 20 different mind blowing activities taking place this weekend.

Since its inception in 2012, Slum2School Africa has supported over 3000 children through various psycho-social and medical programs and enrolled over 600 into schools. These impacts have been achieved through the support of over 5000 dynamic and passionate volunteers. It is really exciting to see that young people are passionate about volunteering and even going extra miles to support vulnerable children.

Slum2School’s global campaign for education will be taking place across 15 cities and 10 countries and this year the volunteers are going crazy with their ideas. Some of the activities which volunteers will be embarking on include: sleeping in an IDP camp and organizing a movie night for the kids, walking across 3rd Mainland Bridge, organizing a flash mob across Lagos, climbing the World’s tallest building in Dubai, the Eiffel tower in Paris and the Empire State building in New York, cycling across Lagos and from Lagos to Sherre Hills in Jos, organizing a movie night for 100 children and a sleep over in Makoko, a reading marathon with several children, an advocacy walk from Lincoln Memorial to the White House in the US, a clean up outreach at Ebute Metta, where garbage collected will be matched with funds by Wecyclers. A volunteer is also pledging her wedding, and for the grand finale, there’d be a Musical Soiree on Sunday with Seyi Shay, Monalisa, Lala Akindoju, Isaac Geralds, Eric Arubayi, and many others.

The goal of this campaign is to raise awareness that every child deserves quality education and also use the opportunity to raise funds to support the education of these children.

You can sign up to get more information and also participate in any of the 20 activities taking place across the world. Slumtoschool.org/fundraisingchallenge
